  Notes	John Atkinson: Courtesy of Sutherland Shire Library, Local History: John Atkinson was born on 18 June 1841 in Ireland. He emigrated to Brisbane Australia and later moved to Balmain. His trade was as a carpenter and shipwright. He married his first wife Mary in 1870, She later died in 1885. He then married Lydia in 1886. They moved to Cronulla when land was opened up in 1895. A cottage of 10 rooms called Richmount became their family home. John was a very community minded person and was involved in the local progress association. He died in 1917.
