Cronulla Public School Roll of Honour

The first public school at Cronulla was opened in January 1910 in the area now known as Monro Park.  Henry Tonkin was appointed as the first headmaster.  His son, Morrish Paul Tonkin is the first name to appear on the Cronulla Public School Honour Roll.  Morrish had never been a pupil at the school but his name appears at the top of the list as he was the first of those named to have enlisted. The other sixteen are arranged in order of enlistment.

There has been no record found for the date of the unveiling of this memorial but it was most likely to have been at the original school.  Today the Honour Roll (named Honor Role) is to be found in the present Cronulla Public School, located in Burraneer Bay Road since 1924.
